Our story
A Place Like Home Independent Living Corporation was founded on a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves a safe place to call home and the opportunity to live with dignity, independence, and purpose.
Our organization was created after recognizing the growing need for affordable, supportive housing for older adults, veterans, and individuals with disabilities who often face barriers to stable housing, social connection, and daily support. Too many people find themselves living alone, experiencing housing insecurity, or struggling to find a community where they feel welcomed and respected.
We set out to change that.
At A Place Like Home, we provide more than housing—we create a warm, family-like environment where residents can build meaningful relationships, participate in enriching activities, and maintain their independence while receiving the support they need. Our homes are designed to promote safety, wellness, and a sense of belonging.
We believe that every resident should feel valued, heard, and empowered. Through compassionate care, community partnerships, and a commitment to excellence, we strive to help every individual enjoy a higher quality of life in a place they are proud to call home.
As we continue to grow, our vision is to expand our services, strengthen community partnerships, and open additional homes so that more seniors, veterans, and adults with disabilities can experience the comfort, security, and support they deserve.
At A Place Like Home, we’re not just providing housing—we’re building a community where people can thrive, create lasting friendships, and truly feel at home.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide safe, affordable, and supportive housing that empowers seniors, veterans, and adults with disabilities to live independently with dignity, compassion, and a strong sense of community.

Our inspiration: a belief in dignity and respect
A Place Like Home Independent Living Corporation was inspired by a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves a safe place to live where they are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Through working with seniors, veterans, and adults with disabilities, I saw that many individuals were facing housing insecurity, loneliness, and a lack of supportive environments that allowed them to maintain their independence. Too often, people were forced into living situations that didn’t feel like home or didn’t provide the personal support and sense of community they needed to thrive. Those experiences inspired me to create A Place Like Home—a place where residents can feel safe, valued, and empowered while continuing to live as independently as possible. My vision has always been to offer more than housing. I wanted to create a welcoming community where people build meaningful relationships, receive encouragement, and participate in activities.
